ABOUT THE WALK
The APS Walk for the Animals is a fun way to raise funds and raise awareness about our community’s homeless animals. Your pledges will help the Animal Protection Society of Durham care for the needs of many animals in our shelter. The animals need you to help make our Walk for the Animals a success.
The 2008 Walk for the Animals will be held at Duke University’s Wallace Wade Stadium on May 17, 2008 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. We are very excited about the fun lineup of a free breakfast to all participants, demonstrations, contests, children’s activities, rescue group booths, a raffle and other great prizes that are planned for the day of the Walk. We are sure that you will also have great time along the scenic 5k or 1-mile fun walk route. You are welcome to walk with or without a pet.
To Benefit the Animal Protection Society of Durham
The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) is a nonprofit organization that relies on donations from caring individuals and businesses in our community to help animals in need. APS is dedicated to protecting and providing shelter for all animals. Our mission is to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals, promote spay/neuter and encourage the adoption of homeless animals. All proceeds from the Walk go toward the care of animals in our shelter.
Each year, the APS of Durham cares for more than 6,000 stray, surrendered, and abused animals. Our goal is to find suitable homes for the animals in our care. In addition to county funding, we rely on charitable donations to feed, shelter, and provide medical attention for our animals. We provide important services such as adoptions, education, rabies clinics, microchip clinics, and more.
